The nest box, which we are proud to present here, has been developed
after extensive wildlife observation and careful study of ornithological
literature.
Many various models of nest boxes are available in the marketplace
today. They differ in shapes and sizes and fulfill the needs of
our "winged friends" to a higher or lesser degree. Most
of them are fashioned after our homes and bear no resemblance
to the natural nesting habitat.
Our aim is to create a different type of nest box. One, which
in overall appearance, materials, craftsmanship and installation
would look and feel to a bird like a natural nesting hole.
Our nest box can be described simply as a piece of wooden log
with a hole. It bears such a remarkable resemblance to a natural
nesting cavity it might as well have been excavated by a woodpecker.
It meets the same needs a natural nesting cavity does and is enhanced
by a few additional features:
1. Can be easily and securely mounted in almost any location
and since installation does not require use of nails or any other
hardware it is minimally invasive and will not cause any damage
to trees.
2. Can be easily cleaned, which inhibits spread of diseases
3. Its design hinders predators from gaining access to the nest
and the brood.
4.Drainage hole allows the box to stay dry at all times; makes
it more durable and provides adequate ventilation necessary to
maintain proper temperature inside the box on hot spring and summer
days.
5. Location of the entrance hole and roof minimizes wind noise
making the nest box cozy, comfortable and inviting
6. Structure, limits the resonance effect created by pecking
and thus reduces a number or boxes damaged by woodpeckers.
The number one advantage of our nest box is that once mounted
it instantly becomes an accepted part of the environment. It stays
in perfect harmony with the natural habitat and provides tasteful
adornment to any park, garden or backyard.
